i-wireless FOX19 Prep Classic A Huge Success

Good crowd, great football, and lots of money raised to benefit schools and a new women’s health center

CINCINNATI (OH)The inaugural i-wireless FOX19 Prep Classic held at Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, was a huge success.

An estimated 30,000 fans witnessed the prep football triple-header at Paul Brown Stadium, making it one of the better-attended prep events the four-year-old stadium has ever hosted.

In addition to the large fan base in the stands, there were also considerable numbers of spectators watching at home on television. FOX19 reported a successful telecast for all three games. The 12:00 Moeller-Louisville St. Xavier game attracted 53,875 viewers. The majority of the 2:30 Elder-Highlands contest was No. 1 for its time period and recorded as many as of 56,658 viewers. The Colerain-Anderson game, carried live on UPN 25, and then replayed at 11:00 PM on FOX19 attracted in total 49,459 viewers.

On the field, regional powerhouse teams from Elder, Moeller, Colerain, Anderson, Louisville St. Xavier, and Highlands had the opportunity to compete in the event and also benefited monetarily from their participation. Over $100,000 from the event will be distributed amongst those schools.

The proposed women’s health center in Over-The-Rhine will also benefit hugely from the event. The Anthony Muñoz Foundation, Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation, and the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, as event co-creators, have earmarked over $100,000 in proceeds they earned from the event to be directed toward the development of a downtown women’s health clinic that will concentrate on the early detection of breast cancer.

The i-wireless FOX19 Prep Classic was promoted by Hacks Sports, and was the direct result of a concerted effort between Hamilton County officials, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Anthony Muñoz Foundation, the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, and the Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation.
