August of 1999: Scott Hacker created Hacks Sports Magazine and the Website
www.hacksports.com.
August of 2000:
Hacks Sports
expanded from Northern Kentucky
to the entire Greater Cincinnati area and became affiliated with Reach
Publishing Systems, Inc., a highly successful publishing company that
specializes in the production of several different consumer brand
magazines, including Reach Magazine, Cincinnati Bell New Neighbor Book, InTouch Magazine, Housetrends and HomeTown Golf
Magazine.
January of 2000: Hacks partnered with
WKRC/Channel 12 to become
Hacks 12Sports Magazine. This partnership allowed Hacks to
gain advertising exposure through television presence in the
Greater Cincinnati area .
July of 2000: Hacks Sports partnered with the Southwest Ohio
Football Coaches Association to help promote their annual all-star
football classic. This event is now known as the Hacks Sports East/West
All-Star Football Game and continues to grow every year. This was the
first step in expanding the company beyond the magazine. More events
have since followed, from football, basketball and softball to track and
field and ice hockey.
February of 2002: Hacks ended its agreement with WKRC/Channel 12 and
partnered with
WCPO/Channel 9 to become
Hacks 9Sports Magazine. This arrangement allowed the
magazine to grow even more and serves as a perfect compliment to WCPO/Channel
9's weekly high school sports television show,
Meijer Sports Rush. Both WCPO/Channel 9 and Hacks
Sports continued to work together to promote the magazine, Website and sporting
events throughout the year.
August
of 2003:
As Hacks continued to grow in other
areas, a sports marketing company was formed, Hacks Sports Marketing (www.hacksportsmarketing.com)
- a move that has increased the potential for more companies and
businesses to get involved in the world of sports through increased
event marketing and advertising opportunities.
February
of 2004:
Hacks Sports announced the Inaugural "Prep
Classic,"
featuring
six high
school football powerhouse programs scheduled to collide on Sunday,
Sept. 5, 2004,
Labor Day weekend
at Paul
Brown Stadium hosted by the Cincinnati Bengals. This event is
the direct
result of a concerted effort between
Hamilton County
officials, the
Cincinnati Bengals,
Anthony Muñoz Foundation
and
Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation
to bring an annual showcase prep football event to the Greater
Cincinnati area that features top local and eventually top national
programs.
May
of 2004:
Hacks Sports makes TV
history by announcing that
WXIX/FOX19
will broadcast the inaugural
FOX19 Prep Classic on Sept. 5 from
Paul Brown Stadium. The telecast will include live coverage of the first
two games and tape-delayed of the third game. Greater Cincinnati loves
its prep football, but few dreamed of a day when games would air on live
local network TV.
August of 2004:
Hacks Sports
partnered with
i-wireless to
conduct an exciting football and basketball tour for 2005,
beginning in late August with the high school football season and
running through the high school basketball season. The Tour, referred to as the “i-wireless
Tour,” is held at the 10 biggest high school football games in
Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky as well as the 10 biggest high school
basketball games throughout the region. Media partners for the Tour include
WCPO
Channel 9 television and
WKQZ New Rock 97.3 radio. Also Hacks
Sports proudly announced
i-wireless as the title sponsor for the newly-named
i-wireless FOX19 Prep Classic.
Beneficiaries of the event included Cincinnati charities:
Anthony Muñoz Foundation,
Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation,
and the
Marvin Lewis Community Fund. These
three foundations joined together to support the Pink Ribbon Health
Clinic in Over-The-Rhine in Cincinnati.
